Dichloroacetylene hazard summary

Dichloroacetylene is formed from the thermal decomposition of trichloroethylene or tetrachloroethane. Dichloroacetylene poisoning causes injury to the kidneys and nervous system. Affected patients may have trigeminal nerve paralysis and reactivation of facial herpes. Most cases were reported when trichloroethylene was used as an anesthetic. [ACGIH]
